Tile Re-grouting Process

Nothing shows the age of a home more than discolored, neglected grout. Tile re-grouting is the process used to make your bathroom or kitchen look like a brand new one.

Old tiles often have cracked and discolored grout. You can see this problem commonly in tiled surfaces of bathroom, especially in the shower area. You should not ignore this cracked and damaged grout.

Process of tile re grouting

1. Clean the existing grout properly

Before starting the process of tile regrouting, all the existing grout should be cleaned properly. After cleaning the damaged grout, if the tiles look fine then the entire regrouting process can be skipped until the same is much damaged. Use best grout cleaners to clean the grout, so that no remaining is left behind.

2. Prepare the surface

Prepare the surface to start tile regrouting. Vacuum the area and make sure that no chunks of grout are left behind.

3. Choose the appropriate grout color

Choose grout of desired color that matches your tiles. Grout is available in dry or pre-mixed form. With help of a grout float make the grout mixture ready for application. A grout float helps you spread grout evenly on the entire tiled area. Grout float ensures that no crack or gaps are left while applying grout between tiles.

4. Apply the grout between the gaps:

Spread the grout over the tile using the tool at an angle of 30 degrees to the surface. Press the grout properly inside the cracks and gaps. Leave it for about 20 minutes.

5. Clean the Surface

Clean the re grouted area with a wet sponge to remove any remaining left behind. Once this is done leave the grout to dry for about 20 minutes.
